EDUCATION AWARD - NIROOPMABEN J. BHAKTA
MEMORIAL FUND 2017

The winner was Rhea!!! Congratulations.

“THE IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATION” OR “WHY IS COMMUNITY IMPORTANT TODAY”

Niroopmaben Bhakta devoted a significant part of her life in service of the community. Niroopmaben taught at the Gujarati School and joined various cultural and religious activities such as bhajans, choreographed plays, taught Indian dance and assisted in all social activities. She spoke several languages, and was passionate about drama, cooking and music. Through arts and crafts, the children she taught Hindu mythology. She was the first and only woman President of the UK Bhakta Samaj in the 1980's breaking down stereotypes of what women could achieve. Many still recall how she engaged the youth in sports days, fancy dress competitions and Garba. Her message was about inclusivity and sharing knowledge to ensure the Samaj and Hindu teachings prevailed.
